this is thirty

SURPRISE!
that husband of mine...tricky tricky.
i was just going shopping with my sister then we were headed over to classic skating rink to what i thought was my mom's work's patient appreciation party.
turns out, it was MY PARTY!
gordon wanted it to be childhood themed.  and rollerblading was a huge part of my childhood.  we had a roller rink around the corner from my house.  i dare say i was there 3-4 times a week.  blade or die.

my mom is cooler than yours.  my mom also sprained her wrist on her last loop around the rink but whatever, she's still the coolest.

thank you mel for my little kid birthday cake.  it was one of the best carrot cakes i have ever had!
this is mystie.  she's been my bestie since 9th grade.  and now we're thirty.  holy cow.
my besties from work.
and my guy.  he's pretty special.  i'm pretty lucky.
the littlest man even took a lap or two around the rink.  was this the safest idea, probably not.  but was it fun, yes.  fun trumps safety.

i don't know how gordon will top this super fun party.  but i'm sure he'll find away.  he's like the best gift giver ever and now the best party thrower too.

life has been happening, i promise

^^finally, trail running season has arrived!

^^a during the week lunch date with my favorite person.

^^birthday dinner for Mystie & Chana with my high school besties.

^^proving to ourselves we're still young & hip by going to the alkaline trio concert.

^^happy st. patty's day!

^^sunday dinners with this little guy are the best!

^^we got to spend time with a few of our favorite little people so their mama could have some time for herself while their dad is serving our country in Afghanistan.  i also have a great respect for melanie.  she's an amazing mother and those kids love her dearly.  they are great kids!

^^gordon turned 27! he thought he was turning 26. i reminded him he wasn't. it took awhile to convince him. to his dismay, he's 27.  (also, i love that by chance all of his friends were in town and could go to dinner to celebrate with us.  gordon is such a great friend to them that it made me so happy that all of them rearranged their schedules and made time for him.)

^^went to the Brigham city temple for the first time. it's nice to have a temple somewhat close to us again. counting down the days til Ogden opens up again though.

^^easter! egg hunts & egg dying. fun fun fun!

^^my talented husband installed hardwood floors and framed our windows in our upstairs living area. it's like i have a whole new house it changed things so much. i love them!  next up...new couches (a girl can dream...)

^^mandi was in town from Texas so we got together for lunch in the park. loved seeing her & miss her so much!

^^my very first trip to trader joes. is it possible to fall in love with a grocery store? cause I totally did. trader joes, come to Ogden please!

^^baby girl shower for Jodi! Jenny taught me her crafty ways & we made paper pom poms & yarn ball garland.  pretty sure every party i decorate for will have those two things as part of the decor from here on out.

^^and last but not least, my step dad Tim turned 60! he had a few parties. the one at boondocks was my favorite, but the surprise was pretty great too.

& there ya have it. the past month or so in a nut shell.

over the weekend...

*our weekend started early on friday.  i took a half day at work and took gordon to a little italian food cart that serves the best philly sandwiches.  the dogs had a hair appointment that same day so they got to join us.  they also got their shots.
*our neighbor made us tamales!
*our other neighbors, who just so happen to own a fireworks stand, invited us over for a firework show that night.  fireworks are one of my favorite things.
*saturday morning jodi was in town and joined my sister and i for a little yoga.
*later that night we went to a ogden raptors game with my dad.  his work had a party there so everything was free...bonus!  and when the game got boring (nine innings is a lot!) the mischievous boys kept themselves occupied with paper wads.  oh, and the raptors won.
*gordon's little brother and his wife were in cali so we got to watch their sweet kitty, roxy, for several days.  cats are my favorite, but that roxy holds a little piece of my heart, she's so darn sweet.
*and we ended the weekend with a birthday celebration for gordon's dad.  the little man helped blow out the candles of course.
