best friend sleepover

little miss turned 4 and we got to have birthday/best friend sleepover.

i heard that a yoga studio in ogden had a little yogis class and i knew i wanted to take little miss with me.  she loved it!  it was so fun practicing with her.  we joined a friend of mine and her niece.  we asked them to pose in their favorite poses for a photo and these are what we got...
tree and warrior (little miss and i called it princess warrior)

snake
and lion
and downward dog (which we both looked under our armpits at each other to chat...she is so cute!)
she loved tree pose so much that the instructor shared a partner tree pose with us.
challenged my balance much more than little miss (she was leaning on me).
we worked up quite the appetite (especially me, i had gone to pilates beforehand).
i asked little miss what she wanted to eat and she said "i like pizza."
so we walked to one of my favorite pizza places, lucky slice,
to get "pizza slices bigger than our heads."  if you can't tell, she loved it.
later than night we met up with gordon's parents (her grandma and grandpa) who were having a
sleepover with little man for dinner and a stroll through christmas village.
little miss LOVED all the decorated houses.  we had a good time.
on our way to grandma's house for sunday dinner the sun was shining.  it was shining a little too much for little miss so she asked if i had some sunglasses she could wear.  i about died when i looked in my rear view mirror and saw this.  she is so cute!

little miss has often called me and told other people that i am her best friend.
i just knew we had to get best friend necklaces.
so i presented these to her with her birthday gift.
we were both reallly excited about them and wear them just about everytime we're together.

life lately...

francis peak, farmington, utah: we went from 0 to 9560' in just a matter of days
our brother in law asked us if we'd like to hike/climb mt. olympus with him.  we said yes and our bodies have felt it ever since.  it was difficult but oh so amazing up at the top!
our town's temple is up and running!  the dedication was beautiful and we feel so blessed to have a temple so close to our home.
harvest moon festival: i love this girl.  priscilla is a co-worker and good friend of mine.  she lives in ogden too and loves our town just as much as i do.  we play a lot together.
celebrating our blonde beauty's upcoming wedding day!  college besties forever.
gordon's church calling has him over the youth organizations in our ward.  i am so happy about that because that means he gets to participate with me in their activities.  our latest adventure was a temple quest with the primary.  i got to talk to them about baptism and he got to talk to them about temple recommends.  it was a beautiful night filled with lots of wonderful people.  i am so blessed to be able to serve in the primary.
rollerblading is back! at least my sister in law and i think so.  and we're pretty freaking good at it too.  let this fantastic fall weather last so we can keep on blading!  skate or die.
i am a yogi.  ogden had a yogafest.  i attended the two day fest and pushed myself to new levels.  and had a lot of fun doing it.

meet la tortuga blanca (the white turtle).  it's our new vacation house.  see those red plaid curtains? those are custom-made by gordon himself.  yes ladies, he sews and he's all mine!
the wedding.  the beautiful bride.  and the best of friends.
ogden had a spooktacular bike ride.  first one.  priscilla and i went.  we dressed up, got some treats for our tricks and had a great time.  seriously, ogden is the best.

witches night out at gardner village.  first thing little miss said to me "tonight we're princesses dressed up as witches.  nice witches of course." it was a super fun night.
surprise gift from my mister.  i've wanted a pendleton blanket for years.  he's too good to me.
first session in our temple!  it was perfect and gave us both some much need clarification and guidance that we were needing.  i love the temple!
halloween work party and witch costume number two.  love these girls and i am so grateful i have such wonderful friends that i get to work with too.
i voted.  it was kind of a big deal.

time with the littles: SUP

it's no surprise how much we love spending time with the littles.
we've been pondering the idea of taking them kayaking and paddleboarding with us.
when their mom told us they had life jackets it was like the green light to just do it.
and so we had ourselves a sleepover and took the littles to causey reservoir.

little man had no fear.  jumping from gordon's kayak to my paddleboard. standing up on the paddleboard with me.  swimming all over.

little miss was a bit more reserved.  no splashing.  don't go too fast.  don't rock the boat or board. but then out of now where she said to me "i want to stand up" and she did.  she would yell "i'm surfing" with the biggest grin i've ever seen!  she even got so comfortable that she laid down on our way back to the shore for lunch.

and when we saw some friends from our neighborhood with their kids both of them were on cloud 9.
they didn't want to leave!

it was one of the best water adventures we've had all summer!

**also, right as we were taking this picture little miss said "best friends forever" instead of cheese.
my heart exploded!

a whole weekend with the littles...oh my!

we got to watch a couple of our favorite little people this weekend...for the whole weekend.  i'd be lying if i said we weren't super excited.  and nervous.  especially since i had to work on saturday so gordon was going to be flying solo for a bit.  but we did it!  gordon even combed little miss' hair into a ponytail!  success...yes, i would say so.

lucky for us the event i was working was a safe kids fest.  gordon brought the littles and they participated in a bunch of activities...a safety super hero photo booth may have been one of them (and the one i was in charge of).

little miss wanted me to take photo after photo of her being a safety super hero...she loved it, even if this photo doesn't make it look like she did.

of course, every kid events needs a clown making balloon animals.  two swords coming right up!
on sunday on the way home to drop them off they zonked right now.  if that doesn't say my uncle gordon and aunt jess are the funnest and bestest, then i don't know what does.
one of my favorite parts of the weekend was getting little miss ready for church.  she wanted me to curl her hair like a princess.  she just may be the sweetest thing ever!

one of the worse parts of the weekend was when we had to "discipline" little man.  he may or may not have spun around in a circle while going pee...which may or may not have gotten all over my bathroom...which may or may not have led us to explaining to him that he would not be able to have any of uncle gordon's blue popcorn because he peed all over the bathroom.  it broke our hearts when we were watching frozen, little miss eating her pink popcorn, and little man said "i'm not eating any popcorn because i peed all over the bathroom, right?"  yes, little man.  at least he understood why he wasn't getting a treat.  these kids are smart and understand so much.  a true example of great parenting (thanks mel and justin!).

will we do this again?  YES.  just not this weekend or next weekend...give a bit to recover.  maybe next time we can add the littlest man to the mix.  maybe.
