I think the novelty wore off

Because our old ward camp out was a bust. I think we’re all okay with the fact we’ve moved on (although it is still incredibly hard). Only a handful of couples came. But it was still fun. Camping is always fun (weather permitting). And because Gordon thinks that if you aren’t carrying your supplies on your back you should be as comfortable as possible and eat delicious camping food it makes camping for me a lot more enjoyable. Burnt hotdogs, smores made with expensive chocolate (now we’ll never be able to buy Hershey’s again), late night campfire, early rising to a husband making me one of my favorite meals (breakfast), fishing, and a short but sweet hike to a waterfall. Payson Lakes is a great place to do all of those things, although we’ve decided we don’t need to travel that far again. Those things are available much closer to home.
