it doesn't photograph well, but it's good

delicious really.
we love guacamole!  we may have had it for dinner one night last week.  fresh tortillas and homemade guac.  probably one of my favorite dinners.  not for the low calorie or nutritious parts, obviously.

lunch date

i had the day off today.  it was nice.  cleaned, did laundry, baked cookies, worked out...
but my favorite part of the day was going to lunch with him.

thanks for the lunch date husband.  i sure love you a lot.

nothing a little tonyburgers can't fix

my good friend and coworker, Teresa, took me to lunch last week.  to my favorite burger joint.  i even got a shake (bear lake raspberry shake).  i could feel my anxiety melting away.  even if it all came rushing back the moment i stepped back into my office.

*the 5K i was in charge of is over.  it went much better than last year.  with close to 500 participants.  wow!
things are calm again.  life is good.

the kind of strength i admire

You may not know what lies ahead, yet you are moving forward anyway.  You are one of the strongest people I know.  What you are doing is by no means easy.  It takes strength.  A lot of it.  Which you have.  I know you're scared.  I am too.  Moving forward is scary.  Starting over is scary.  But you deserve to be happy.  Estatic.  Jumping up and down for joy each and everyday.  And I see that you're on your way there.  And life is going to be bright.  And things are going to change for the better.  Change.  What a scary yet thrilling word.  I love you sister, and I am so proud of you for doing what you are doing.

just breath

I'm the race director over my work's 5K.  The race is this Saturday.  And it's causing me to be extremely busy at work.  And to be stressed out to the max.  And to have anxiety.  Because our machine timer is broke.  And we have almost 300 people that have pre-registered (which is double the total attendance from last year).  And we had race software issues that took a lot longer than it should have to fix.  And we're trying to figure out a new way to time the race.  I have 2 days left to do this.  On top of all the other scheduled items I have planned in preparation for day of the race.  There are times I feel like I'm forgetting to breath.

And then came tonight's yoga.  Yin yoga.  Where you hold the poses for 3-5 minutes (working our way up to 10 minutes...yes 10 minutes).  And you breath.  And monitor your breathe.  And how you are feeling.  And I was breathing again.  My body feels renewed.

Yoga, you continue to amaze me.  I will never stop practicing.  My body couldn't function.

my yoga partners.  boy, i have the best sister-in-laws ever!

and the best part of my Bear Lake trip...

was when Gordon surprised me and showed up a bit earlier than I had expected.

He wasn't able to come up the entire week, and originally was coming up Wednesday night.  When my nephew said "Gordon is here" early Wednesday morning I thought he was teasing me (like he had been the few days prior by saying Gordon is here, and that I shouldn't worry because Gordon was coming up on Wednesday...teenagers) but he wasn't!  Gordon decided work was for the birds and he took Wednesday off so he could come join us on my family's vacation.

My cousin's girls (who are 11 and 9) were probably just as excited if not more excited then I was when they saw that Gordon had arrived early.  They love him.  Before he got there we were having girl talk (which is just adorable...these girls are too cute) and they told me how cool they thought Gordon was.  The coolest.  I remember being their age and thinking my cousins' husbands and/or boyfriends were so cool and cute...I'm glad that I have a husband they think those same things about.

Oh and girls, if you're wondering, he thinks you're the coolest too.

doggie friday: he's on the look out

for his favorite person in the world: Gordon.  if Gordon is gone he's watching out the window waiting for him to come back.  he does this no matter where we are.  if Gordon is gone, he's on the look out for when he'll return.  most of the time i think it's cute.  unless Gordon is going to be gone for days.  then i feel bad because he just wants him home.

we weren’t qualified, but we judged anyway.

Our ward’s chili contest that is. We had our ward’s campout this past weekend and it’s tradition to have a chili contest. Since we were one of the only people that didn’t bring chili (hey, I was planning the campout so give me break) we were asked to be judges.

Last year’s winners won. So I think we did okay.

is that a vacuum i hear?

I didn’t even ask him to do this. I was doing my weekly Saturday cleaning when I heard the vacuum going in our basement. I went downstairs and saw him vacuuming. He vacuumed the entire basement and stairs. I didn’t even ask him to. He wanted to help me.
I love this man!

48 hours

48 hours without anything sweet or that contains sugar. I’ve done this once. I was planning on doing it for 9 days. It was this detox thing my Mom was doing that I thought I would do too.

And then my friend brought to work a freshly-made-that-morning-from-her-sister-still-warm pumpkin empanada.

It had cinnamon and sugar sprinkled on top.

I caved.

It was good.

lovely

That’s the perfect word to describe Matt and Jenny’s wedding. She was lovely (stunning really). He was lovely. The ceremony was lovely. The dinner was lovely. The reception was lovely. Every detail of their wedding was lovely. From the heart shaped flower pedals they stood in during the ceremony to the paper birds you wrote your thoughts on for the new couple that hung in a miniature tree. Lovely.

And it rained. It produced a double rainbow. One of the rainbows was bright. Magical!

Congratulations Matt & Jenny. We love you and couldn’t be happier that you found each other.

street tacos

There shouldn’t be any other kind. There’s something about the taco cart that screams authenticity. And the taste…that screams it too.

The taco cart we frequent added a new special someone too…this little guy. If you pet him once, he’s your friend for life. Head cuddles in your hand and all. If the free watermelon juice and horchata drink wasn’t enough. ( no that’s not for everyone. the taco cart owner really likes us. we may have kept him in business last summer.)
